John Ilson studied art in London in the Fifties, and has been
painting ever since.
Coming from the East End of London, it's perhaps not surprising
that he should be inspired to paint the quintessentially rural
landscapes of England and France.
John displays an awesome ability to capture on canvas the
big summer skies of the Charente Maritime and to recreate
in minute detail the light, the colours and the atmosphere
of the lush countryside.
His paintings embody the essence of serenity and leave the
beholder with a feeling of tranquillity and peace.
John's
work is held in numerous private collections throughout the
U.K , France and Sweden.
· Exhibitions include The Mall Galleries, London
· the Nouvelle Hollande Gallerie, France
and 2009 at Burgh House, Hampstead, in a joint exhibition
with sculptor, Mark Longworth
